After Dark: A Night Photography Series of New York City

An urban jungle that thrives into the wee hours of each morning, New York City turns into another life of its own well after the sun descends below the horizon. “After Dark” is a photographic vignette of New York City’s electrifying night scenes. Taken in Lower Manhattan and Midtown, this particular set of photos attempts to capture the motions and stillness of this unceasing metropolis at night, whether it’s a cyclist zipping through East 23rd Street or folks rendezvousing with friends or partners under romantic strung lights at Madison Square Park. The photos were intentionally manipulated in black and white to draw the viewer’s attention to the artificial light sources that appear in each frame.
